OpenSolaris lives on as illuminos

The key OpenSolaris people have banded together to form a new organisation to promote OpenSolaris under a new name 'illuminos', according to this posting.

Now I have never used OpenSolaris, nor do I intend to, though I admit to having used Solaris itself - because I very much prefer Linux. However, I feel strongly that Oracle has been very shabby in its dealings with the OpenSolaris folk. So I wish their new venture all the best. It would be much more boring if there was only one operating system, even if it was my favourite one - Vive La Difference!
